Ingredients
1 pound elbow macaroni
2 tablespoon butter
¼ cup all-purpose flour
3 cups milk
1 teaspoon granulated garlic
1 teaspoon of yellow or Dijon mustard
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
1½ cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese, divided
1 ½ cups cooked diced ham
Directions
Cook elbow macaroni according to package directions; drain and set aside.
In a large saucepan, melt butter over low heat; whisk in flour until smooth. Gradually, whisk in the milk, granulated garlic, yellow or Dijon mustard, cayenne pepper, salt to taste and pepper. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for about 2 minutes or until thickened. Remove from the heat. Stir in 1 cup of cheddar cheese, 1 cup of Monterey Jack cheese, cooked ham and macaroni.
Preheat the oven to 350 degree F (175 degree C).
Transfer the macaroni mixture to a greased baking dish. Sprinkle it with remaining cheddar cheese and Monterey Jack cheese. Bake, uncovered until bubbly and golden brown, 20-25 minutes. Let it stand for 5 minutes before serving.
