Total time: 20 minutes Yields: 1 serving
Ingredients
2 slices bread
1 teaspoon mayonnaise
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
2 slices cooked ham
2 slices cooked turkey meat
2 slices Swiss cheese
1 teaspoon raspberry jam
1 large egg
½ cup milk
Pinch of salt to taste
Pinch of black pepper
Pinch of ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Directions
In a shallow dish (large enough to fit a sandwich), beat the egg with milk, a pinch of salt, pepper, and ground nutmeg. Set aside.
In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise and mustard. Set aside.
To assemble the sandwich, spread the mayo/mustard mixture on the top of one slice of bread. Top with the slice of cheese, followed by 2 slices of turkey and then the slices of ham.
Spread raspberry jam on the remaining bread slice. Place raspberry jam side down over ham. Secure the sandwich with toothpicks at each corner.
Heat a skillet over medium heat and add oil.
Dip and coat the sandwich in beaten egg, and place in a skillet. Cook sandwiches 2-3 minutes on each side, or until browned to your liking and the cheese has melted.
Remove and drain on paper towels and remove the toothpicks and serve hot.
